👥 Judges, Coaches, and Managers
Humor as a sport requires not only talented participants but also strong organizational support. Within the WHF structure, judges, coaches, and managers play a key role in ensuring professionalism and the high quality of competitions.
⚖️ Judges
Each national or regional federation is responsible for appointing judges to evaluate its internal competitions.
Major and ranking WHF tournaments must be evaluated strictly according to the official WHF rules and scoring criteria.
Qualifying rounds, festivals, and open mic events may be judged more informally based on the internal regulations of the organizing federation.
Who can serve as a judge:
- professionals from the entertainment and media industry;
- comedians with regional achievements and experience;
- creative individuals, local opinion leaders, and cultural figures;
- WHF partners and representatives.
Federations are required to notify WHF in advance about the appointed judges for each official competition.
🧠 Coaches
Coaches assist comedians and humor clubs in preparing for competitions across different disciplines. They are experienced professionals in comedy writing, directing, and performance.
Possible coaching roles:
Head Coach — leads the overall preparation and creative direction of the team;
Coach — supports content development and stage performance;
Specialized Coaches (for directing, improvisation, musical humor, etc.);
Player-Coach — a coach who also competes as a performer.
Individual performers may work with or without coaches. When present, coaches perform the same functions as they would in clubs: preparing material, rehearsing, and refining performance style.
📋 Managers and Administrators
Many humor clubs and individual comedians may also work with managers or administrators who support them with:
- organizing performances;
- coordinating with federations and tournament hosts;
- managing travel, logistics, and technical needs;
- handling communication and administrative tasks.
While not officially regulated, managers are an important part of the team, contributing to consistent and professional participation in WHF events.
